“There are so many unexpected ways this tiny little town contributes to and supports the arts,” Kelly Yarbrough, Tallgrass Artist Residency Lead Administrator, told a packed gym at Matfield Green’s School for Rural Culture and Creativity Saturday afternoon. “Today is our 100th program,” she beamed proudly. “Over the ten years of the Tallgrass Artist Residency program, we’ve hosted 91 artists from 19 states. Today, we’re a full-fledged partner program of the Kansas Arts Commission.”

The Fall Gathering and Ten Years of Tallgrass, which lasted into evening with a homemade chili dinner and bonfire, hosted special guest speaker and New York Times bestselling author from Kansas, Sarah Smarsh.
