WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTVO) — The Department of Homeland Security has issued a response to statements made by Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker over claims that the Trump Administration had "declared war" on Chicago and characterized the deployment of the National Guard as an "invasion."

In a press release issued Monday that DHS claimed would "set the record straight about Pritzker's lies," Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin wrote, "Our message to JB Pritzker: Get out of your mansion and see Chicago. If J.B. Pritzker actually walked the streets of his own city, he would see domestic terrorists and violent rioters attacking police officers and the scourge of violent crime as a direct result of his own policies.”

The release contradicted Pritzker's claim of an "invasion of Illinois" by responding,
