PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Oregon Governor Tina Kotek announced she sent a directive to the U.S. Northern Command to send National Guard members back home amid an ongoing dispute between the Trump administration and the State of Oregon.
Kotek also said she met with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem at the Portland airport during a visit on Tuesday.
This all comes after President Donald Trump directed National Guard troops into Oregon, which has been twice challenged in federal court. The back-to-back federal decisions granted the State of Oregon a temporary restraining order to stop National Guard troops from starting a mission in Portland.
