Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said Tuesday she’s hopeful that she’ll have good news about the fate of her government’s proposed pipeline through northern B.C. by next month despite continuing opposition from that province’s premier and well as area First Nations.

Smith spoke with reporters in Ottawa a day after meeting with the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal and Prime Minister Mark Carney.

She addressed comments from B.C. Premier David Eby that he posted to social media Monday where he again attacked the idea of a new pipeline through his province, calling the potential project “non-existent” and warning it would jeopardize billions to the province’s economy as well as its northern coastline and Great Bear Rainforest.
