A fire Saturday night caused about $20,000 in damage to the roof of Central Park Place, a five-story condominium building in downtown Naperville, according to the Naperville Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived at the 110 S. Washington St. location just before 8 p.m. and confirmed an active rooftop fire, officials said in a news release. Hose lines were sent up the stairwell and an aerial ladder used to access the roof while crews evacuated residents.
While the blaze remains under investigation, a contributing factor may have been a stove vent stack in Italian restaurant Gia Mia, which is located next to the condominium in the old Nichols library building, Naperville Fire Department Division Chief Daniel Smith said.
