SIKESTON, Mo. (KFVS) - The Sikeston Department of Public Safety confirmed one of their own died while responding to a stand-off in Mississippi County.
According to the department, Officer Henry Franklin was killed in the line of duty on Monday, October 6.
They say he was a member of the Sikeston DPS Tactical Team who responded to a mutual aid call in Mississippi County on Monday.
While serving a warrant, they say Officer Franklin was shot and killed by a person who was barricaded inside a home.
According to the Sikeston DPS, Officer Franklin started with the department in June 2013. He served as the handler for K-9 Odin and previously served in the Army National Guard.
