A woman stabbed her boyfriend in a vicious knife attack after he went to sleep in a separate bedroom, a court heard.

Leanne Melling knifed her partner after the couple had spent the day arguing. In the early hours of January 19, when the victim decided to sleep in a different room to 'deescalate the situation', she followed him in.

The 34-year-old from Whitefield , in Bury , then unleashed the 'extremely violent' knife attack on her partner, stabbing him in the abdomen. When he attempted to disarm her, he also sustained a serious stab wound to his hand, Cheshire Police said.

The victim was eventually able to gain possession of the knife, before then throwing it across the room and fleeing from his apartm
