The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resource’s most recent update on fall foliage across the state.
This week’s projections from the agency point to the effects of recent precipitation, which "slowed the color transition for many forests that were reacting to drought stress and producing early coloration," according to the DCNR website.
“The rainfall and warm nighttime temperatures likely stabilized the fall color timeline, which had been significantly advanced,” the report reads. “The expected cooldown over the weekend should stimulate noticeable color changes across Pennsylvania, especially in the northern half of the state and mountainous regions.”
