LINCOLN, Neb. —

Lincoln High School will forfeit its upcoming football game against Millard South due to injuries and "a number of other factors."

"Due to the extent of player injuries sustained in last week's game, and a number of other factors, we are communicating with Millard South and the NSAA today that we are forfeiting the game," Mark Larson, Lincoln High School principal, said in a statement. "This was not an easy decision. Ultimately we need to make the best decision for players' health and safety so we can finish our season. This will allow an extra week for our players to heal."

The game was scheduled for Friday, Oct. 10 in Lincoln.

"We believe in our student-athletes and our coaching staff and know they will continue to work hard to finish the season strong," Larson said.
