SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. - Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris has vetoed the newly approved election cycle for members of the Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) board.

Last month, the commission approved a resolution so that in about eight months, all nine MSCS members would be back on the ballot for reelection. That move aligned the school board's elections with the commission's.

Mayor Harris submitted a letter during a commission meeting Monday night that vetoed the resolution. He did not provide a reason why.
