Federal officials are crowing after 13 alleged members of a street gang in the Los Angeles Harbor area were arrested.

The gang, Rancho San Pedro, is "one of the most active and violent gangs" in the area, the FBI said in a news release.

Akil Davis, the assistant director in charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, said the operation targeted RSP's "upper echelon." Charges involve drugs, guns and racketeering.

“Today’s actions will cause a significant setback to Rancho San Pedro and their Mexican Mafia overlords, and lead to safer streets for San Pedro residents," Davis said.

Of the 13 people arrested Tuesday, eight were charged federally and five locally by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
