AROOSTOOK COUNTY -- The formation of a new three County Community Action Agency is now well underway.

The Unified Program will serve Aroostook, Washington and Hancock counties.

The collaborative agency will launch in 2026 with a new name and brand.

A press release says as of October first all remaining Downeast community partners contracts for essential services such as Head Start, energy and housing services and elder services have been transferred or are in the process of being transferred to Aroostook County action program.
