A Duchesne County man short on cash is facing the consequences after turning to forgery as a solution. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, 22-year-old Braxton D. Cox had been issued a check from his work and changed the check information to then electronically deposit the altered checks. This was done five times. The accused was interviewed by officers and admitted to having performed the acts, stating that it was due to needing money. Cox was arrested on October 1st and is charged with 5 counts of 3rd Degree Felony Forgery and 5 counts of Misdemeanor Theft.
