Canada is known more for poutine than pizza . But that hasn’t stopped Pizza Depot , a Canadian chain that has been slinging pies since 2000, from crossing the border. Its first U.S. location opened in Edison this past June.
The move was a personal one for owners Subhash Chand, Mahul Savalia, and Sachin Punatar — all Edison residents who missed the brand’s variety of global and classic flavors after spending time in Canada.
So, they brought it home.
“We saw there were a few local pizza chains and we loved Pizza Depot in particular,” Chand told NJ Advance Media. “It was my go-to weekend place for pizza.”
When he returned to the Garden State, his family started missing the familiar flavors like jerk chicken, chicken peri peri, Thai supreme and chili mango.
