BENNINGTON — The Korean Conflict might be called “the forgotten war” but the Republic of Korea (ROK) has not forgotten those allies who fought with it to maintain their freedom.
One of these is Donald “Don” Fisher, 93, of Bennington. He recently received the Ambassador for Peace medal from the ROK, better known as South Korea, for his service in the Army's 24 Infantry Division, 21st Regiment.
“It is a great honor and pleasure to express the everlasting gratitude of the Republic of Korea and our people for the services you and your countrymen have performed in restoring and preserving our freedom and democracy,” reads the proclamation accompanying the medal. “We cherish in our hearts the memory of your boundless sacrifices in helping us reestablish our Free Nation.”
Fisher also receive
