KOLLAM: A husband died tragically in front of his wife when a container lorry hit the scooter they were riding on. Girish Kumar (38, Giri), son of Rajan Pillai and Prabhavathi Amma, died instantly after the rear wheel of the lorry ran over his head. His wife Anitha (37) escaped with minor injuries.

The accident took place at the iron bridge near the Kollam KSRTC junction around 10 am yesterday. The two were returning after coming to Kollam to get Anitha's passport done. While the scooter was going from the passport office to the collectorate, a lorry that was trying to overtake from the left side hit the scooter.
