Police are hunting an armed robber who fled a Lanark premises after being unable to open the till.

Officers were alerted to the incident in Bloomgate area of the town at around 10.15am on Sunday, October 5. Police say that a man entered the premises before threatening a member of staff with a weapon.

He is understood to have left when the till failed to open. Officers are asking anyone who has information to come forward and assist with their investigation.

The man is described as being white, around 5ft 10in tall, slim build and aged between 25 and 35 years old. He was wearing a black zipper top with white panels on the sleeves, a black beanie hat, black tracksuit bottoms and a football scarf around his face.

He was last seen making off in the direction of Wide Close and North Vennel.
