COLUMBIA, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) confirmed that a rabid bat was found in the Upstate.

Officials said the bat was found near Main and Spruce streets in Duncan, SC.

DPH said one dog was exposed and will be quarantined as required in the South Carolina Rabies Control Act.

The bat was submitted to DPH’s laboratory for testing Oct. 3, and was confirmed to have rabies Oct. 6.
