Tasmania's government has claimed the benefits of the proposed AFL stadium "cannot easily be quantified" as part of its formal response to the planning commission's rejection of the project.
Last month, the Tasmanian Planning Commission (TPC) found the $1.13 billion stadium to be built on Hobart's waterfront was too big for the area, would impact the surrounding heritage, and the disbenefits of the project outweighed the benefits.
It recommended the government not proceed.
The government's formal response to the report — released on Wednesday — outlines the case to continue forging on with the stadium, arguing it will "unite communities and elevate our cultural life".
