STEPHENS COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - More than three dozen dogs were recently rescued from an abandoned Stephens County home.

A total of 32 dogs were rescued from the property, where the owner had passed away late last year and the caretaker of the home had fallen ill.

The Stephens County Humane Society sought help from Abilene’s Rescue the Animals, utilizing their efforts in capturing the animals and finding them suitable adoption agencies across the country.

President of Rescue the Animals, Paul Washburn, talked about the additional help they received in rounding up the dogs.

"Local volunteers on the ground in Stephens County were going out and feeding the animals, giving them water, making sure they were okay. In advance, we sent them the vaccinations to vaccinate some of them," Was
