FARGO — The game was over for several minutes, the Illinois State marching band was still exiting the stadium, when North Dakota State head coach Tim Polasek started in on his team’s win over the Redbirds. He sounded like a professor who couldn’t wait to get to class.

More specifically, he was eager to look at the videotape for some teachable moments.

“I think there are some things now we can get their attention,” Polasek said. “We need to be better at this, that and the other thing.”

Three days later, he was asked about this, that and the other thing. What needs to get better heading into Saturday’s showdown against Southern Illinois at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome? It’s a matchup of the Nos. 1 and 6 teams in Division I FCS.

"A little better than what I thought,” Polasek said
