KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Based on preliminary information, police say a crash involving eight vehicles that sent two children and a woman to the hospital Monday started when a military vehicle crashed into a semi-truck.

The crash happened at 7:50 a.m. on I-94 eastbound near Sprinkle Road in Kalamazoo Township. Michigan State Police say preliminary information indicates a military vehicle lost control after changing lanes and hit a semi-truck, which crashed into three passenger vehicles and caused a chain reaction with three more vehicles. Eight vehicles were involved in the crash, police say.

A 10-year-old child was hospitalized with serious injuries after the crash but as of Tuesday was listed as stable, according to police. A 40-year-old woman and a 4-year-old girl were also
