LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (WCAX) - The third and final phase of the Adirondack Rail Trail is now complete and open to walkers, bikers. and hikers, spanning 34 miles between Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, and Tupper Lake.
New York Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Amanda Lefton said the trail is accessible for people with disabilities and was funded through various state sources, including the $4.5 billion Environmental Bond Act.
“Over 70 percent of New Yorkers voted for this Bond Act to support the projects just like this,” Lefton said. “To give back to our communities, to protect the environment, to protect clean air and clean water, and create these world-class opportunities in places like the North Country.”
