MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Memphis Police Department is investigating a shooting in the Nutbush area that left a woman fighting for her life Tuesday afternoon.

MPD reports that the shooting occurred near the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Bayliss Avenue, but the call for help came from a neighboring residential street.

At 1:58 p.m., officers responded to the 3500 block of Townes Avenue, where a woman suffering gunshot wounds was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Police say no one is in custody at this time.
