Plans are underway to build a headquarters and practice facility for Detroit’s future WNBA team along with a youth academy on the 42-acre former Uniroyal Tire Co. site as developers seek $40.7 million in tax-increment financing to cover cleanup, site preparation and infrastructure improvements.

The board's community advisory committee is expected to consider the request during its meeting Wednesday afternoon.
