LONDON, England — Jilly Cooper, the bestselling British author renowned for her provocative and humorous novels, has died at 88, the Associated Press reported .

She died Sunday following a fall at her Gloucestershire home, The Chantry. Her family and literary agency, Curtis Brown, confirmed the news Monday, AP said.

Cooper’s literary career spanned more than five decades, with her most famous works including “Riders” and “Rivals,” part of the Rutshire Chronicles series, The Guardian reported .
