HARTFORD, CT. (WFSB) - A 35-year-old man was convicted of attempted murder for shooting at a police officer while she sat in her patrol car in 2021.

Jose Cajigas was found guilty on charges of attempted murder, assault on public safety personnel and criminal possession of a firearm.

The incident occurred October 26th, 2021, when a Hartford police officer on patrol on Main Street observed him walking toward her parked cruiser carrying an orange umbrella. According to court evidence, Cajigas paced in front of the vehicle before approaching the driver’s side.

The officer notified dispatch and requested backup before speaking with him.
