Mark Womack, the Executive Associate Commissioner of the Southeastern Conference who was raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama , died Monday, Oct. 6 at age 70.

Womack was born in Scottsboro, but was raised in Tuscaloosa. He later graduated from the University of Alabama in 1978 with a degree in public relations.

Womack was the Chief Financial Officer in the SEC and was a liaison to the conferences athletics directors. He headed up SEC football scheduling and worked with the conference's bowl and TV partners.
