LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - A Lynchburg nonprofit that’s been helping unhoused for decades is now expanding its mission — this time to give entire families a safe place to call home.

Imagine not knowing where your kids will sleep tonight. You might not think that could ever happen to you, but for more and more families in Lynchburg, that fear is becoming reality.

"Over the past year or so we’ve realized there are more families sleeping inside their cars or in tents," said Sarah Quarantotto, Executive Director, of Miriam’s House.

That’s why Miriam’s House is opening its first-ever homeless shelter specifically for families, set to open in 2026.
