NISSWA, Minn. — For those unaware of it, there is a sight to behold tucked away in the woods just outside of Merrifield, Minnesota — a castle.
Miller Castle, a 12,000-square-foot stone fortress complete with suits of armor, murals and a great hall, has become a lesser-known landmark of the lakes area and the heart of the experience for Scouts visiting the Parker Scout Reservation.
“(Scouts’) first reaction is, ‘Wow, it's a castle!’ They're just beyond excited," said Isaiah Anderson, district executive for Scouting America, Central Minnesota Council.
Anderson said the idea behind the castle was to create a unique destination to draw Scouts to the area, but the hope is to have it be used by more than just youth.
