COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - In this week’s Beyond the Yellow Tape: Investigators are revisiting a cold case that claimed the life of 20-year-old Maurice “Mando” Talbot, hoping someone in the community will finally come forward. On March 4, 2021, Columbus police responded to reports of a shootout in North Columbus. The scene stretched for roughly 500 feet — from North Lake and Bear Lane to Veterans Parkway — with dozens of shell casings scattered along the street.

“There was no victim on scene, but they had a lot of evidence indicative of a shooting,” said Sgt. Sherman Hayes with the Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit.
