NEEDHAM, Mass. —

Tuesday, on the seventh day of the federal government shutdown, the Federal Aviation Administration expects a staffing shortfall at several facilities, including one that oversees air traffic over much of New England.

"Staffing triggers" were reported by the FAA at the Boston Air Route Traffic Control Center, among other facilities. That air traffic control center, which handles planes in flight between airports, is located in Nashua, New Hampshire.

The staffing warning for the Boston facility is in effect from 6 p.m. through 11 p.m.

There have been cancellations and delays at Logan Airport today, but Massport says it's because of an ongoing runway construction project, not staffing.
