SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said they arrested a man last week whose BAC was so high that he fell asleep in the back of the patrol car.
At around 10 p.m. on Sept. 30, one of the sheriff's office's air units spotted a car stopped on northbound I-75, slowing down traffic and forcing cars to swerve out of the way to avoid a collision.
Before deputies arrived at the scene, a passing vehicle stopped to assist. The man was driving a construction truck with amber and white flashing lights and stopped behind the other car to prevent someone from hitting it.
The man spoke with the person in the passenger seat, who said he was trying to wake the driver up. Smelling alcohol coming from the passenger, the man then called the Florida Highway Patrol.
