LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - As the government shutdown enters its seventh day, essential federal employees keep working without pay, increasing financial strain for thousands of workers across Kentucky and the country.

Johnny Jones, a high-ranking TSA union representative stationed in North Texas and the second-in-command for the TSA union, said his colleagues are facing difficult decisions about their financial futures. Jones represents 45,000 TSA agents across America.

“Most of our co-workers are worried about how long this is going to last,” Jones said. “Number two, they are making preparations for not getting paid this weekend or getting partial pay and going forward with no pay.”
