Ambulance hit while crews worked crash in Jackson; major damage reported

A Chevy Tahoe collided with an AMR ambulance and a dark sedan on Interstate 20 near Ellis Avenue around 9:34 a.m. today, causing major damage to the ambulance, authorities said.

Capitol Police and AMR were already on the median working a hit-and-run call that had heavily damaged the passenger side of a white SUV when the Tahoe struck the vehicles. The Jackson Fire Department, Jackson Police Department, and an AMR supervisor responded to assist with medical treatment while Capitol Police and JPD continued managing the scene.

The investigation is open and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Capitol Police at 601-359-3125.
