Chestnut Hill – There are rivalry games in college football with a symbolic trophy on the line that date back to the early years of the last century.

Michigan and Minnesota began playing for the Little Brown Jug in 1903 while Purdue and Indiana have competed for the Old Oaken Bucket since 1925. Perhaps the most significant annual rivalry game is the Iron Bowl between Alabama and Auburn. The Iron Bowl originated in the late 1940’s but the rivalry dates back to 1893.
