NORFOLK, Va. — Two of the country’s largest online real estate platforms, Zillow and Redfin, are now at the center of a legal battle with Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, as well as four other states. The lawsuit alleges the companies conspired to limit competition in the rental housing market.

In a federal complaint filed last week in the Eastern District of Virginia, Miyares and attorneys general from Arizona, Connecticut, New York, and Washington accuse Zillow and Redfin of implementing what they call an “unlawful scheme.”

"It’s basically saying that these two companies have come together to limit the market for large apartment-style housing," 13News Now legal analyst Ed Booth told 13News Now after reviewing the suit.
