CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - More than 150 lives have been lost to domestic violence in Ohio over the last year.
A new report just released Tuesday showed the last year has been the most dangerous since the Ohio Domestic Violence Network started tracking deaths.
19 Investigates took a look at the problem and spoke with a survivor who hopes telling her story will save lives.
Leslie Terry doesn’t take a single day for granted.
“I prayed every day, you know, for God to get me out this abusive situation before I end up dead or the abuser, one of the two,” she said.
Years ago, she was so in love she ignored the red flags.
She said she suffered repeated beatings and emotional abuse for years.
The mom of four tried to hide it until she couldn’t anymore.
