Premier Danielle Smith might have felt a bit weird lately without an anti-Alberta prime minister to attack.

For her own political reasons, she’s been gentle with Liberal Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Never fear, though. Along comes B.C. NDP Premier David Eby to fill the gap.

Eby’s new attack on her pipeline plans is purely partisan, and vicious.

He says a bitumen pipeline to B.C.’s north coast would bring Donald Trump politics to B.C., implying it’s all part of a giant international MAGA plot.

Albertans remember that Eby’s party and former premier, the late John Horgan, tried for years to fight off the Trans Mountain expansion.

There was a lot of heated rhetoric and even a wine war that in hindsight looks utterly ridiculous.
