A woman who pointed a replica firearm at police in suburban Alsip was fatally shot by an officer after making threats to law enforcement, authorities said.

At approximately 10 p.m. Monday night, officers with the Alsip Police Department were called to the area of 124th Street and South Cicero Avenue after a woman told 911 dispatchers she was being chased by an active shooter, police said in a Facebook post.

While officers were responding, the woman called 911 several more times and told them she had a gun, that she had killed a cop and would kill another police officer, authorities said. Law enforcement tracked the woman's phone to the east side of the Burr Oak Cemetery, where she was later located.

As officers approached the woman, she ran away, scaled a fence and crossed Cicero Avenue
