The Arizona Cardinals lost in one of the wilder, more improbable fashions to the Titans on Sunday. And it took the most embarrassing mistake to spark the entire collapse.

So, when backup running back Emari Demercado dropped a would-be touchdown shy of the goal line, it made sense for Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon to be furious. After all, instead of putting the game away with a touchdown, Demercado gave Tennessee the momentum it needed to pull off a comeback win.

But for as upset Gannon was about the mistake, he seemingly took that frustration too far confronting Demercado on the sidelines. And now it's going to cost the Cardinals head coach a pretty penny.

According to Adam Schefter, the Cardinals are fining Gannon $100,000 for the exchange on the sidelines. While it's not uncommon to see coaches angrily confront players in heated sideline exchanges, Gannon made contact with Demercado at the tail end of the conversation. We can see that in the video:

And sure, as harmless as hitting a player's pads might be, it's still not the behavior the Cardinals want to see from a head coach. There are ways to get a point across without turning physical.

The fine makes that point.
