BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern County Board of Supervisors approved a request from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office for a multi-million dollar contract with a food service establishment to provide food and kitchen services for inmates in county jails.

The sheriff's office asked the board to approve a proposed agreement with Trinity Services Group, Inc., a food service establishment that is “dedicated to the corrections industry,” according to the company’s website.

The agreement allows the company to provide inmate food and kitchen services at KCSO detention facilities, which includes the Lerdo Pre-Trial, Justice, Maximum-Medium and Male and Female Minimum facilities. The Max-Med and Minimum facilities are currently unpopulated, according to the contract.
