WAYNE COUNTY, MI – One person is dead after a stabbing at a Kroger grocery store near Detroit on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

Police responded to the stabbing at 3:05 p.m. at the Kroger in the 16000 block of Fort Street in Southgate, which is about 15 miles southwest of Detroit.

Responding officers found a victim with multiple stab wounds inside the store, the Southgate Police Department said in a news release. The victim, a 23-year-old man from Southgate, was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. His name was not released by police.

A suspect was arrested on the scene.

Police did not release any details about the motive of the stabbing but said it was an isolated incident. There is no threat to the public, the police department said.
