Your “Today in Ohio” podcast recently addressed cleveland.com’s Oct. 5 report that a quarter of Ohio students are chronically absent . I looked at four school districts in my vicinity.
Two of them, Dayton and Trotwood Madison, are not rated among the better school districts in Ohio and have almost twice the average chronic absenteeism rate of the state overall. Two of them, Beavercreek and Centerville, are rated among the better school districts in Ohio and have about half the average Ohio chronic absenteeism rate.
Could it be that students are more likely to skip school if they don’t believe they are getting a good education in that school?
