Israel remains “cautiously optimistic” about ongoing peace negotiations in Egypt aimed at ending the war in Gaza, despite internal concerns that Hamas could be attempting to “manipulate the process”.
The indirect discussions coincide with the two-year anniversary of the war’s outbreak and are centred on a US-led peace proposal.
Israeli officials say they have accepted the plan and remain “committed to (US) President (Donald) Trump’s plan and bringing every hostage home immediately,” government officials told Euronews .
“Our position is clear: the immediate release of all 48 hostages, as agreed in President Trump’s plan, is non-negotiable,” they said.
