NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) -- A figure skating gold medalist is coming to the Twin Cities as a guest speaker for the Red Cross' Evening of Stars fundraising event next month.

Scott Hamilton, against all odds after many medical setbacks during his life, including stunted growth due to a brain tumor and stage three testicular cancer, rose from the ashes to claim a gold medal for figure skating. When asked to be the guest speaker for this event, his answer was immediate: Yes.

"This was a wonderful invitation. They were looking for a speaker for this year's fundraiser. My name came up and Speakers Bureau reached out to me and they said, 'Are you available on this date?' And I said, Yes. And they said, 'Would you like to be a part of this?' And I said, Yes," said Hamilton.
