SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The Sioux Falls Sioux Empire Lions Club is asking for help from the community with one of their service projects: recycling plastic to make park benches.

While the Sioux Falls Lions Club originally started collecting plastic to create benches, and they still are, they have helped other organizations get involved as well to make their own bench.

Faith Temple Food Giveaway is currently asking for volunteers each Tuesday to help sort through plastic to ultimately create park benches.

Margaret Straley is in charge of the sorting on Tuesdays with Faith Temple, but didn’t get involved until this past April.

The ultimate goal is to create five benches, but each bench consists of 1,000 pounds of plastic, which is why donations and volunteers are needed.
