OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Looking to save a piece of history in Omaha, directors at Joslyn Castle just received federal funding to make much-needed repairs on a part of the castle.

First Alert 6 spoke with those directors and the Douglas County Historical Society about the importance of preserving these places.

“We need history to help tell the story of how we got to where we are today,” said Thomas Neal, executive director of the Douglas County Historical Society .

In order to keep that history intact, the directors of Joslyn say it’s going to need some extra attention.

Over the last century, the steel beams attaching the conservatory to the castle have started settling and pulling apart, allowing moisture into both the conservatory and the castle itself.
