KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One person has died after being hit by a car in Kansas City, Missouri on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD), the driver of a gold Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound on East 31st Street when someone ran onto the road near a Family Dollar parking lot, just east of Mersington Avenue.

The victim was hit by the front of the Ford and thrown to the pavement. KCPD said the driver stopped immediately and cooperated with law enforcement. They were not impaired.

Police said the person hit was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after they arrived.

This incident is still under investigation.
