KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A large travel center and gas station gets the green light in Independence.

The Independence City Council on Monday night approved for Wally's to build a convenience store near I-70 and Noland Road, which was a longtime home of a Kmart store, and before that, a Venture retail location.

The 54,000 square foot gas station is expected to have 84 pumps and 12 E-V charging stations.

So far, Wally’s has two locations, and some describe it as being somewhere between a giant Buc-ee’s and a smaller QuikTrip.

Back in August, Independence residents in support of the project told FOX4 they support development along Noland Road, and they’re hopeful Wally’s will help generate some money there.
